Karla Review try 2.

Alright, I am re-doing this review because the first one sucked. If you did not read my first one, count yourself very, very blessed.

-start review-
For those of you that don't know, Karla is a film about Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo, a.k.a The Barbie and Ken Killers. Now, before you get the wrong idea, these people didn't go around killing dolls, that would be the lamest movie of all time, they were actually some big crime people in Canada, committing murders, sex crimes and other creaptastic things which I will not write here due to some of my readers. Anyway, the reason they were called the Barbie and Ken killers is they were beautiful people that looked like they had everything they wanted in the world. They were married, rocked the white picket fence and even had a dog. No one thought they could be the people behind the crimes, they just looked like such nice and normal people, the evidence against them was too much to ignore, however. There were video tapes and Karla testified against Paul in court, this was part of a deal to give her a lighter sentence, to this day this deal is called 'the deal with the devil.' These two were arrested and put in jail for their crimes, Paul got life and I think Karla got 12 years, but I'm not sure and I'm too lazy to look it up right now anyways.

Alright, onto the movie itself. This thing was amazingly well done, but it is rated R for a reason. If you are easily scared or made uncomfortable by the thought of sexual crimes/scenes or murder I would not watch this film if I were you. It chilled me to the bone, mainly because I knew the full story. The acting was great, you can tell the actors really gave a lot of effort to their roles and since they were extremely disturbing characters, this is no small fete. I did have one problem with the film, however, and that is how you saw Karla; she played the victim, pinning it all on Paul. Now, Paul was more of the mastermind and was working on his own before he met Karla, but Karla wasn't a saint either, she helped abduct many of the victims and showed no regret or mercy on the tapes. She was a sick puppy too, not a poor girl that was dragged into this by the charming Paul. But, I have to hand it to the writers, they gave a reason for it. The film starts with Karla talking to a shrink trying to get parole, she retells the story in her own words where naturally, she spins it to make her look better. I personally would like to have seen a little more about Paul, seeing as he was an interesting and very intelligent criminal, but the writers and such thought it was more of Karla's story and it's their movie so yeah.

Alright, I guess that's it for the review, so I'm going to end this post with a little shout out to one of my new favorite actors; Misha Collins. This guy has been great in everything I've seen him in, now granted before this it was all small parts in hit shows like CSI, NCIS, and ER, but I heard he did a great Russian assassin on 24. I don't watch the show, so I wouldn't know. Besides Karla, the thing I have loved him in is a show called, Supernatural. In this show he plays an angel of the Lord named Castiel. Yeah, an angel. To go from phycokiller to angel and pull them both off takes mad skills, skills Misha seemes to possess. Hopefully Supernatural will help him get in the limelight some more and we'lll get to see more of this very talented man.
