LUCY, I"M HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, hello, hello! I'm back in the blogging game. I know I said that before and then disappeared forever and a day, but this time I'm gonna try to actually blog once a week. Keyword there being 'try' I don't guarantee anything at all. Anyway, down to business!

Last time I went the lame route and did a top ten list, so this time I'm going the helpful route and showing you all how to set up a 10 gallon aquarium. What prompted this? I set up mine today and I had a camera handy. TADA! So, let's go!!!!!!!!

First you'll want a starter kit, I got mine at WalMart for about 40 bucks, it sounds pricey, I know, but it's worth it. When you have your kit bought you'll want the basics of
  • Gravel
  • Decorations
  • Background
All of these can be found at WalMart, but I got most of mine at PetsMart because they are amazing and I love them! When you have everything, it sound look something like this.

Alright, now you have everything, yay you! Now your goal is to find a place that can hold your tank, you don't want it in direct sunlight, but putting it in a closet is a bad idea too. You also want it near an outlet seeing as you will have to plug in your filter and lamp, I shouldn't have to tell you this, but please make sure that whatever you pick is strong enough to hold you tank when it's full. Having a full tank of fish on something that will break and kill them all is just lame and if you do this lame act I may have to track you down and swat you with a dead, wet, floppy bass.

Now that you've found your place it's time to move onto step #1 of setting up your new tank! (I didn't make the other one a step because it was a given)

  • Rinse out your aquarium and place it on the stand or in my case book shelve.

  • Rise your gravel

  • Line the bottom of your aquarium in gravel

Now for step 2! We're just moving right along now, aren't we? ;)

  • Fill your aquarium 1/3 of the way with dechlorinated water. (You can either use a dechlorinater, or use water you have let sit out for 48 hours, whatever floats your broccoli)

Now for step 3! The last step was easy and this one is the fun one!

  • Tape your background to the outside of the back of your tank, picture facing inwards.

  • Place your decorations in the tank.

Step 4. This has got to be one of the easiest ones.

  • Fill the rest of your aquarium with dechlorinated water.

Step 5. This one can be kind of tricky, so reading the instruction manual is a good idea.

  • Install your filter according to the instructions it came with.

  • Install heater if needed.

Step 6, the final step.

  • Install the hood/lamp.

And there you have it, a spiffy new aquarium! Before you add any fish let the aquarium run for 1-2 days to make sure that everything is working smoothly. After that feel free to add your fish, just remember to only get 3 per week and 1 gallon per inch of fish.

Here are the fish I have right now.......

This is Molly, a female Betta I've had for awhile now. She's a phyco, so she's not going to be living in the new tank.

That over there is Jasper, he's a male Betta I got today. I'm doubtful he'll be allowed to live in the new tank either seeing as Betta's are aggressive by nature....

I will be posting up dates, pictures and possibly videos of my aquarium as new members arrive. Don't like it, than don't read. ~.^
