Medical Update for the Month of May

This month has been pretty eventful for my health y'all. I went into the doctor for sleep and all that weird stomach stuff I mentioned last week and while he has no idea what's up with my stomach (he actually said he was completely baffled) he did give me something for sleep that's helped a lot. I haven't had to go into the ER this month, so that's nice, but I have had some major pain spikes which brings me to point #1

Pain:
It's been really bad this month, even as I'm typing this out I'm struggling to not like pass out. I've been taking Vicodin like candy, so much so it's almost completely stopped working. I don't know where I'd scale the daily, every day pain except that it's above 5 when I wake up and it climbs steadily throughout the day no matter what I'm doing. All the storms here have been pretty much sending me through a meat grinder.

Stability:
Hasn't been too great either. I fell down the stairs on the 29th and my legs have been giving out randomly all month, so my phone is a must; it's like my LifeAlert. We're trying to get a hold of Dr.Lutt right now to see about getting me a wheelchair so I can enjoy my upcoming road trip as well as do stuff like go to college and the store without worrying about my ability to walk suddenly being taken away. "Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!"

My legs:
Have been doing horrible. I stopped counting how many times my hips have dislocated this month after each one hit 12. That was in the beginning of the month. They've been hurting really bad and wont support me, and my knees have swollen up again, so that's another thing we'll have to talk to Dr.Lutt about because it may just be from all the falls, but it may also mean that my medication has stopped cutting it and I need to change again.

My shoulder:
It's been pretty weak this month, so I can't really do a whole lot with my right arm right now and I've been rocking the sling look a lot, but with some more strength training in PT I should be able to get it back to normal.

Medications:
I'm still on Humira and Vicodin as needed for pain, but now I'm also on Ambien to help me sleep and Prilosec to hopefully help my stomach. I haven't noticed the Prilosec doing anything really and the only side effect of the Ambien is that I don't remember much of anything when it's in my system so I just make sure I'm in bed trying to sleep when I take it. Something funny that happened with it was that I would read my Bible for the night after I took it, but I wouldn't remember reading anything, so I read a chapter of 2 Samuel like 3 times before I realized what was going on. I do my reading beforehand now.

Blood Work:
I haven't had any done this month.

Sleep:
I've been sleeping like a baby ever since I started on the Ambien and it's been fantastic!

Other Stuff Worth Mentioning:
  • The R.A. might've moved into my hands. I'm having a lot of tightness and pain in my fingers, especially when the pressure's changing, and they've been locking up and swelling some, so we'll talk to Dr.Lutt about it next visit.
  • Dr.Lutt wrote out and put in the mail a prescription for my wheelchair! So in a couple of weeks I should have a new set of nifty wheels. I'm pretty excited

That's all I can think of right now, but as always feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions about anything. :)
